Steakhouse Dinnerware for The Rib Room, Jumeirah Emirates Tower

MyGlassStudio designed a bespoke steakhouse dinnerware collection for The Rib Room at Jumeirah Emirates Tower, Dubai, one of the city’s most awarded steakhouses. Furthermore, the project coincided with a complete refurbishment and re-launch of the restaurant in March 2011. Under the culinary lead of head chef Ana Maria Gasperi, The Rib Room specialises in premium cuts. Wagyu, Australian and American steaks, signature rib dishes, and a custom range of sauces. Moreover, the restaurant is known for its personalised steak knives, engraved with loyal guests’ names. It also won the “What’s On Favourite International Specialty Restaurant Award” in 2009.

The Rib Room Refurbishment. A New Era for the Restaurant

The four-month refurbishment transformed the restaurant from top to bottom. According to hotel manager Maren Kuehl, the goal was to refresh the look of the award-winning steakhouse and increase the number of covers. The main dining room expanded from 80 to 115 covers. Furthermore, a new private dining room for 18 guests was added. The refurbishment also included a fresh re-branding of the restaurant’s bar, now known as The Agency, redesigned as a stylish pre-drinks venue that complements the overall flair of The Rib Room.

New Steakhouse Tableware, “Steaks and Ribs Have Never Been So Stylish”

Under the slogan “Steaks and ribs have never been so stylish”, the new decor transformed the old red and black interior into a space of mustard satin seating, mahogany walls, low lighting, and a glass wall adorned with a landscape of glass bottles. Bahrain design firm DWP created the interior. Moreover, MyGlassStudio completed the new dining experience with bespoke steakhouse tableware designed to match the restaurant’s contemporary yet warm character.

The Steakhouse Serving Ware Design. Show Plates and Side Plates

The steakhouse serving ware centred on a sophisticated palette of neutral clear glass for the show plates and warm cream for the bread and butter side plates. Furthermore, both pieces featured a subtle brick pattern on the rim, gold brick for the show plates and transparent brick for the side plates. This quiet Art Deco sensibility gave the table a sense of exclusivity without overpowering the food. Moreover, square glass plates accompanied the main course, adding a dynamic edge suited to the bold flavours of The Rib Room’s steak menu.

Results, 40% Revenue Increase and 20% More Covers

The refurbishment proved to be a remarkable success. According to Maren Kuehl, The Rib Room and The Agency achieved a 40% increase in revenues from April to June 2011 compared to the same period in 2010. Furthermore, the new design contributed to a 20% increase in covers in the main dining room. Moreover, this demonstrates how a carefully considered steakhouse dinnerware design, alongside broader interior changes, can drive measurable commercial results. MyGlassStudio is proud to have been part of this success.
